VIOLENT STORMS
CAUSE MUCH DAMAGE

SYDNEY, December 15.
During a violent storm which passed over New South Wales, a station homestead at Jei’jlderie, the property of tlm New Zealand, Australian Land Coy., was set on fire by lightning and destroyed. The damage is £5000.' A butter factory and a number of houses were unroofed at Harden. Trees were uprooted, garden® ruined and poultry killed. Rain fell in torrents. In other districts wheat crops were severely damaged. Two valuable draught mares were killed by lightning at Corowa.
MELBOURNE, December 15
After heavy rain all day, a 55 mile an hour gale struck Melbourne last night. Houses were unroofed, fences flattened, and trees uprooted. The 47-ton ketch Agnes, was driven on the rocks at Wiiliamston and is now breaking up. Heavy sea yachts and other craft in Phillip Bay were damaged. Country centres report severe crop damage by hailstorms. Real wintry weather is being experienced, both in Sydney and Melbourne.
