SECURITY WITH DISARMAMENT,

LONDON, December 14. In the Ho_use of Commons, Mr G. Mander '(Nat.-Liberal) ..moved in favour of the formation,, of an international police force;.controlled by the League of Nations.He suggested that an international force armed with all of the weapons forbidden to Germany would be l a threat to Versailles.
Brigadier General Spears seconded the motion. He expressed the opinion that this wpuld he the only way of .achieving security with disarmament. , Major Attlee, voicing Labour support, suggested that the example of an Empire policed by an imperal force might be followed by the whole world. Captain Eden, replying, said a daymight come when such a force would become an actuality, hut it was unlikely in the near future. The resolution was premature and impracticable,' and - would -only complicate the Government's task in trying to obtain a world agreement to reduce -arms. Mr Mander withdrew his motion.

The “News Chronicle” states: The Cabinet has approved of Sir John Simon (Foreign Secretary) touring the 'Continental capitals during the Christmas recess as part of the dramatic bid by the Government to secure a disarmament agreement including the Governments of Paris, Rome and Berlin. ~At Berlin he trill see Herr Hitler and Baron von Neurath (Foreign Minister).. The paper adds: “Cabinet hopes Sir John will "be able to effect a Franco-German repp.rochement, and at the same, time will he learning more precise details 0f.,. Signor Mussolini’s League reform plans. -He starts his tour "on December 21, going direct to Italy, and afterwards to Paris.
