POLITICAL MEETING DISTURBED

CHRISTCHURCH, December 14. A special court inquiry was held yesterday before Mr H. A. Young, S.M., to take evidence concerning charges made against a junior officer of the Public Trust Office, that, during the Lyttelton bye-election campaign, he was guilty of conduct that constituted a breach of Regulation 32 of the Public Service Regulations, by disturbing political meetings, and in particular, a meeting addressed by Mr Coates at Lyttelton on September 12. Counsel appeared for the Public Service Commissioner and the officer concerned.

Tile inqiuiry was held in camera, and after a number of . witnesses had given evidence, the Magistrate intimated he would forward the report to the Public Service Commissioner.
