GAOL SENTENCE
SLOT TELEPHONE THEFTS.

WELLINGTON, December 13.
Greatly enlarged photographs of a. screwdriver point and of marks on damaged telephone slot machines formed an important link in the evidence upon which a man was convicted at the Police Court to-day of breaking open three street telephones and , stealing the contents.
The accused was George. Henry Trillo,, 26, a seaman, and he was sentenced 1 , to three months’ imprisonment on two* charge 6 of theft of pennies, the sentences to be cumulative, and he was; also convicted on a. third charge ,ofi theft and a charge of vagrancy, and was ordered to come, up for sentence within two years if called upon. The Magistrate (Mr Page), remarked', the photographs showed unmistakablythat the screwdriver found on accused! had been used to break open the boxes.
