He referred;; jfb ihe vote of £1 C{lo on tile Estimates for diamond and other drills, ‘and contrasted this a inbuil t with '£l3dß expended last year. In view of the high price of gold, lie submitted that the vote was very low and die., expressed the opinion that it would be- helpful to the mining industry -and to New Zealand generally if it were, increased. At' the present time gold, mining was coining into its own, and more available areas could he prospected, but not with; tlie old methods.
