ULM’S FLIGHT
760 MILES IN EIGHT HOURS

INVERCARGILL, December 12
After an inieventiul non-stop flight from Auckland to Invercargill, Mr (J. r\ Uhn arrived here at 12. 06 p.m. tociay, accomplishing the hop of approx.matciy 700 milts m tlie record time of seven hours and 57 minutes. It was the first non-stop flight between the two cities.
Trie “Faith in Australia” with her seven passengers, left Auckland at 4.3 S a.m. and at 12.35 p.m. she landed at the Southland Aero Club’s aerodrome. It was not anticipated that (Jim and party would reach Invercargill lmicli before one o’clock, and consequently when they arrived, few spectators were assembled to meet them.
Two of the Southland Aero Club’s planes escorted the “Faith in Australia” to the aerodrome. Uhn had very little to say when interviewed. “We had a good trip down, the weather being ideal,” he said. “The bus gave us no trouble whatever. We had a wonderful view of the country all the way down, and Mount Cook showed up very clearly giving us a remarkable picture.”
Besides a large air mail, a box of flowers from the president of the Auckland Aero Club, Mr BouchErwas brought for trie wife of the president of the Southland Club, Mrs H. J. Mac Alister
The party was unofficially welcomed by Mr H." J. Mac Alister, Mr J- E. Cuthill (secretary) and other members of the Southand Aero Club, and later were officialy welcomed by the Mayor
SMITHY’S PROPOSED COMPANY
TIMETABLE FOR N.Z. ROUTES
AUCKLAND, December 12-
A tentative timetable for routes to be covered by the proposed national air service which is being inaugurated by Dominion Airways Ltd., is announced by Mr Wilfred KingsfordSmith, brother of Sir Charles Kingsford Smith. The main route is planned from Auekand to Dunedin. The journey will commence in (Auckland m the morning and finish at the southern city in the afternoon. It is proposed to fly four return trips weekly, and later on to increase this to a daily service.
The approximate times of departure from the principal air ports are: Auckland to New Plymouth, leave at 8 a.m.; New Plymouth to Wellington, leave 9.30 a.m., arriving at 11 a.m. ; Wellington to Christcliiu'ch, leave 12.30 p.m.; Christchurch to Dunedin, leave at 2 p.m., arriving at 3.45 p.m, There'will also'be .a round route o.mnecting Auckland ‘with the' Coast, and finishing through Wellington at Nelson. Tiiis service will'Ue flown twice weekly, and will be increased if there is a demand for extension.
Towns definitely included in the time table, subject to the intermediate grounds being suitable, with the times, are as follows: —Auckland to Hamilton, leave 8 a.m.; Hamilton to Rotorua, leave 8.30 a.m.; Rotorua to Gisborne, leave 9 a.m.; Gisborne to Napier, leave 10 a.m.; Napier to Wellington, leave il a.m., arriving at 12.30 p.m.; Welington to Nelson leave 2 p.m. arriving at 2.45 p.m.. Conditional places where passengers can be set-down or picked up on this route, as required, will be D«nnevirke and Palmerston North. ,
It is proposed, subject to satisaotorv tests, to use four Wackett Codock monoplanes, of which three will be in constant use, and one kept in reserve.
