DANNEVIRKE, December 11

A collision between a motor cycle, ridden by Aubrey Stanley Smith, aged 21, a motor driver, whose parents reside in Napier, and having a pillion passenger, Robert Allen Scott, son of the manager of the Dannevirke municipal gasworks, and a car driven by Desmond Michael McDonald, an employee of the local branch of Wright, Stephenson and Co., occurred late yesterday.

Smith sustained a compound fracture of the spine and right leg, and severe head injuries. He died in hospital at 9 p.m. last evening. Scott had his right leg broken, and also head injuries, his condition being only fair to-day. The motor driver was uninjured.
