SPANISH DISORDER INCREASES. EFFORT TO CREATE STRIKE. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright). MADRID, December 10. A general strike at Corunna was heralded by bomb explosions. The famous church and convent were set on fire and destroyed. Rebels set fire to the market building at Barcelona, and forced pedestrians at' the point of the revolver to dig trenches in the streets, but attempts to create a general strike were unsuccessful.

The police suppressed a rising in the province of Logrono, and captured hundreds cf bombs and many rifles and revolvers. The rebels sought refuge in a church which was captured after a brief siege.

A general strike commenced on the Asturias coalfields. Twelve villages in the province of Huescar remain in the hands of extremists, the police mach-ine-gunning the rebels. The Government proposes to adjourn the Catalan municipal elections and have forbidden political activity in connection therewith.

The Minister of Labour estimates that 100 were killed and 300 injured in the week-end disturbances. It is now clear that the derailment of the Seville-Barcelona express was du© to anarchists’ bombs placed under the bridge near Puzal, causing several coaches to roll clow n the embankment. Twenty were killed and 38 injured in the outrage which occurred in an isolated district. The fireman was killed instantly, and the driver, who was unhurt, walked miles to the nearest station. Consequently it was four hours before the injured were attended to.

Agonising scenes were witnessed. One man was imprisoned, and injured by splintered woodwork, and he lost his reason owing to pain. A first aid train was rushed from Valencia, but was held up by the torn-up track. Consequently most of the rescue work done by villagers who walked miles to the scene.
