WOUNDED BY KNIFE
HUSBAND’S AFFRAY WITH WIFE (per Ptw Association Copyright.l CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 10. A knife wound in the leg was received by Mrs Betty Churton, who lives with her mother in Hutcheson Street, Sydenham, in an affray outside of her home in the early hours of this morning. Consequently,; her husband, Alexander James Chuiton, a motor mechanic, was arrested, and was charged with assault so as to cause actual bodily harm. Both Churton and his wife had to receive treatment at the hospital, the former suffering from cuts to two fingers. It is alleged that Mrs Churton was accosted by her husband, with whom she had not been living, when she returned to her home at 1 a.m., and that a knife was used by Churton in an altercation that ensued. In the Magistrate’s Court last Thursday, Churton was charged with breaking three windows in his mother-in-iaw’s house. It was alleged .that no had thrown stones through the windows at night Churton denied any knowledge of the stone-throwing, and the Magistrate dismissed the case, remarking at the same time, that there was evidently a good deal of feeling between the parties
