MONSOON STORM

FLOOD DAMAGE IN AUSTRALIA

RAINFALL WITHOUT PARALLEL

(Australian Press Association)

(Received this day at 11.15 a.m.)

SYDNEY, November 29

About seventeen miles of railway line between Giffs and Kinalong were washed away in a terrific downpour of rain. Railway traffic on the Broken Hill line was also disorganised. The rainfall in the far west is without parallel. Areas that had been dry for years are now inundated as the result of a monsoonal storm. Floods are expected in the Upper Darling river.
