JAPANESE BOYCOTT THREAT
AGAINST INDIAN RAW COTTON

CALCUTTA, November 29
A refusal of the Japanese cotton mill owners to accept terms agreed upon .at the Indo-Japanese cotton conference has' been followed by a threat to recall the Japanese delegates from Delhi, and to continue a boycott of Indian raw cotton, Indian official circles, however, are not perturbed by this type of Oriental bargaining, and are remaining firm.

In the House of Commons, Mr W C. Runicman (President of the Board of Trade) said the Government was fully aware that industries other than their cotton and textile industries were being effected by Japanese competition. The whole question was receiv ing careful consideration. It, however, was clearly desirable to see what •was likely to be the outcome of the discussions with the Japanese industrialists in regard to cotton and rayon goods.
