REFRESHER COURSE ACTIVITIES

CHRIST CHURCH, November 28

In the three four-day refresher courses for squadrons of the New Zealand Air Force which ended on Saturday, about 33 officers spent altogether 210 hours in the, air. Most of this was in Bristol Fighters and Hawker Tomtits, but a considerable amount was in Grebes, and a little in Moths. Taking tlie average speed as 80 miles an hour, the distance covered was nearly 17,000 miles, or more than. 1500 miles for every flying day. Officers of No 3 Squadron, which had perfect weather, . flew. for 80 hours No 2 and No 4 squadrons, each of which had some bad weather, spent approximately 70 and 60 hours respectively in the air. ■ No 2 and No 3 are bombing squadrons, and No 4 an army co-operation squadron. Is addition to flying, the officers had other work to do, and attended lectures on different branches of air force activity.
