CAR REGISTRATION

PRESENT SYSTEM -RIDICULOUS

CHRISTCHURCH, November 28-.

The system'of using a new..number plate every ' time a motor vehicle is re-registered was declared to l>e ridiculous by Mr Justice. Ostler in the Su-preme'-..Court this morning.. His Honour referred to th. e English system of allowing the existing number issue, to a motor-ear to remain, a disc ;being attached when the vehicle was re-registered.

His Honour said that for years in England the system had been in vogue of' placing discs on motor vehicles when the annual registration fee was paid ; the number plate was not altered. Such a method was different from the ridiculous New Zealand practice, which required the plates to be changed annually.
