DAIRY IMPORTS
A PROPOSED LEVY.
(United Tress Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright)
(Received this day at 10.15 a.m.) LONDON, November 28,
The National Farmers’ Union asked the Government to seek an understanding with the Dominions in respect to the quantitative regulation of cheese and other dairy produce imports, with immediate legislation compelling importers of milk products to pay a lovy to form a fund to compensate British dairy farmers. The Union contends that the levy does not violate Ottawa, as it already applies to milk marketing.
