SYDNEY, November 28. The testimonial cricket match to-day New South Wales in the second innings, with 4 down for 390, declared. In the bowling Ebeling took 2 for 87, lOhilvers 2 for 95, Nash 'O' for 57, Lee 0 for 67, Darling 0 for 45, Bromley 0 for 33.

The rest of Australia hi the second innings lost 8 for 409. Woodfull made 129, Pons ford 9, O’Brien 4A Darling 77, Nitsehkc 76, Bromley 42, Lee 0. Nash (not out) 20. Ebling 1, Chilverg .(not out) 0;■ extras 11. In the bowling McCabe took 1 for 49, Hill 2 for 83; Alair 0 for 84, O’Reilly 0 for 53, Howell 0 for 53, Bradman 1 for 30, Rowe 1 for 36, Kippax" 3 for 10. The Rest of Australia won by two wickets.

The weather was fine, but the wicket was on the slow side. Woodfull’s, Darl-ing’s-and Nitsehke’g batting and Kippax’s bowling were features of the match, which had an exciting finish. SATURDAY COMPETITION,

A meeting of the Southern Cricket Sub-Assooiatiop was held last evening when there were present Messrs A, Adamson (Hokitika, and Ruatapu). <h Reese (Ross), J, Howat (Woodstock), and S. Ogilvie (Rimu). Mr L. Harper, representing the School club was also present.

The chief subject for consideration, was the proposal to inaugurate a Saturday afternoon competition, and after a full discussion it was decided on the motion of Mr Howat, that the Kanieri, Woodstock, Rimu, Ross and Ruatapu Clubs be requested to call meetings to consider the proposal, and ascertain the number of players available with a view to entering teams. Nominations of teams were requested! to be in the hands of the secretary by next Friday. It was reported that three teams would be entered from Hokitika, representing the Hokitika Club, School, and a team of other enthusiasts. Mr Howat guaranteed that a team would play, representing the combined. Kanieri, Woodstock and Rimu districts, and it was decided, pending replies from Ross and Ruatapu to play two friendly matches next Saturday. These will be:—Combined v. School, at Kanieri; Hokitika v Veterans, at Cass Square. Mr Harper was appointed to the Sub-Association to represent the Saturday afternoon competition. Criticism was expressed of the unsatisfactory manner , in which, the nm, piring of matches had been carried on in th.& past, and . a list of names was tabled, of men who were considered would carry out the duties satisfactorily*

The draw for the next senior matches, with the umpires, is as follows Hokitika v Ruatapu, /at Ruatapu ■ Wilson and Cooper) j Ross v Woodstock, at Ross (Messrs Clark and Willoughby); Rimu v K’anieri at Kanieri (Messrs Fleming and Boyd).

The junior competition will start next week-end, and the draw for the two rounds is as follows: Hokitika A v Hokitika B, at Hokitika ; Ross A and B byes.. Ross A v Ross B at Ross; Hokitika A and B byes.
