Archbishop Schoeffel has resigned from the Ecclesiastical Ministry, because his nominee has not been appointed a member of the church cabinet as Bishop Hassenfelder promised. There is no sign of abatement of the religious ferment. Roman Catholics took an unprecedented step in announcing, their solidarity. Many non-Nazi bishops made pulpit references to “our. Catholic brothers.”

. The- schism of the German Christian movement i s spreading. It includes in the Bavarian section, 'all Pomeranian clergy, 1100 of 1200 Wurtemburg pastors, while Thuringians have abjured Hossenfelder’s leadership laymen, and .formed a society similar to the pastor’s emergency league, to protect the Bible. •Hossenfelder has compelled Archbishop iSchoeffel of Hamburg to resign in favour of Bishop Coch, of 'Saxony, who insists on separate churches for christianised Jews.
