COLONY STATUS
NEWFOUNDLAND MOVE APPROVED. (United Press Association—By Electn Teleeraph—Copyright.) ST. JOHN’S (Newfoundland),
November 24,
Premier Alderdice announced that members of his United Newfoundland Party in the Legislature, unanimously approved of the recommendations of the Royal Commission report proposal that Newfoundland return to colony status, and make other sweeping changes in the Government system.
It is predicted here .that organised opposition will make (every effort, when the Legislature is convened, to resist the loss by Newfoundland, of its Dominion status.
It is understood that the British Government’s proposals for rehabilitation of finances will be opposed principally on that ground. .
