ALLEGED SHOOTING

OF NAZI ON AUSTRIAN FRONTIER GERMAN CHARGE AND DENIAL Press Association —By Electris Telegraph—Copyright.) BERLIN, November 25. The German Government is making energetic representations at Vienna as to tlie alleged shooting of a German soldier, while practising skiing, by Austrian frontier guards, it being pointed out that ho belonged to a group of unarmed soldiers on German soil. It is semi-qfficially denied that the Austrian guards were provoked by shouts of “Kail Hitler!”, or that the soldier shot, named Schumacher, had been in Austrian territory. The Germans declare that only twenty-three unarmed soldiers in civilian dress were skiing, and that there was no exchange of words, while the Austrians fired at a distance of from eight hundred to one thousand yards. It is also stated that, moreover, even if the Germans shouted “Hail Hitler!” that was no reason for shooting harmless pedestrians.

Austrian reports state that two hundred German Nazi storm troops attempted to outflank Austrian frontier guards when one German soldier, namer Schumacher, was shot while skiing.
