VESSEL SUNK IN DOCK
LONDON, November 24
In consequence of a fire which broke out on the steamship Jamaica Producer, while lying at East India Dock, London, it was found necessary to sink her. She was’a vessel of 7472 tons.
JEWEL SMUGGLING IN JAPAN.
TOKIO, November 24
A Frenchman arrested at Kobe, is reported to have confessed to smuggling jewellery worth many millions of yen, in complicity with a reputable former resident. A number of Japanese jewellers are implicated.
CANADIAN LUMBER COMPLAINT
VANCOUVER, November 23. Aroused b3 T criticism in a circular distributed ,in the British House ot by Timber industries Limited against Canadian lumber, the British Columbia Li mber Manufacturers’ Association called a conference at Ottawa. Mr Bennett cabled to Mr Ferguson to make further representations against the Russian timber deal, ..in which it is alleged the trade cards were stacked against Canada, and the conference treatv was Ignored.
