ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES

ROADMAN KILLED BY GRADER. (Per Pre sa Association, Copyright). INVERCARGILL, November 23. Injuries, which subsequently proved fatal, were sustained this morning by Frederick Charles Newton, aged 50, married, who resided at Kupuka, as the result of a grader passing over his body. Newton, a surfaceman empoyed by the Southland County Council, was working on Rimu Factory Road, and was walking alongside and slightly ahead of the grader, shifting away the sods which the machine turned up, when he slipped and' fell in front of the wheels. He sustained sever® internal injuries, and was removed to Southland Hospital, where he died this afternoon.
