IN THE COMMONS
MEMBER. INTERRUPTS KING
(United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright).
(Received this clay at 1-10 p.m.) LONDON,
In the House of Commons the Conservatives ironically cheered Sir Hei* bert Samuel .as he joined the nine Liberal members on the second Opposition .bench below the gangway. Just .as the King said: ‘‘May God's blessing rest upon your labours/’ aßei opening the new session, Mr McGovern, standing among the Common e r s at the’ Bar, shouted: “What the abolition of the means test, .ancl unemployment cuts !”■ Tile brilliant assemblage was stupefied. Few knew it was Mr McGovern.
No repressive action was taken, but ,as the King took the Queen’s hand to escort her to the exit, Mr McGovern said “All this sham, while people are starving.”
Hi s Majesty departed, showing no trace of perturbation.
■Some of McGovern’s neighbouring •Commoners showed signs of resentment and moved towards him, but did not molest him.
