OBITUARY

WELLINGTON, November 21. The death took place to-day of Miss Helen MacGregor, for thirty year s cop- / nectecl with the Church of Scotland Mission in Madras, India, being the \ first New Zealand Missionary to enter that field. She was the' daughter ol the late Rev. James MacG.egor, of Oamaru, and a .sister to Justice MacGregor. She had lived in retirement at Seatoun, Wellington,, for the past five years.

The death has occurred of Thomas H. H. Beddek, who served thirty-one years in the police force and who was senior constable in New Zealand when he retired eight years ago;
