LONDON, November 20.
The “Daily Telegraph’s" correspondent at Paris saysA. judicial inquiry instituted by the. Department of Fine Arts, has disclosed the possibility that some priceless stained glass from the Vii. gin Chapel of Trinity Abbey, at Fecamp, were sold to America, and that the windows were filled again with modern imitations. The windows were removed in 1928 for restoration. They were replaced seven months later.
.No suspicion was raised until last July, when the police were" informed that some ancient glass , had been stolen. The informant also made similar allegations about the windows in the Chartres and Bourges . Cathedrals, which were not substantiated.
Thousands of fragments of old stained glass were seized by , the police on the premises of a dealer, who alleged that he had sold' the -Fecamp. light to America, but . the whole affair is mysterious.
The newspapers state that two of the windows were sold to the American newspaper magnate, William Randolph Hearst. .', , - '• i
