FRENCH 1 DISTURBED

“The Times’ ” corresposdent, at Paris says: The French Government has received from the French Ambassador ■at Berlin, information of new iand disturbing preparations for the re-arming of Germany, which, probably, explains France’s refusal to
make any further concessions at Geneva. There is a growing impression that events are moving rapidly to a crisis, one demanding decisive and early action to protect French security.
In 'consequence of Herr Hitler’s instructions, every German commercial aeroplane now carried two pilots and a pilot mechanic, though the British, French, Dutch and Belgian airlines are all content with a jingle pilot. Herr (Hitler has thus increased the active personnel of the German airlines 'by 5.0 per cent., thus creating ,a commercial air -fleet, which could be transformed into a war force as' formidable as that of any world power.

A BAVARIAN STATEMENT
MUNTOH, November 20
The Premier of Bavaria, Her r ,Siebert, deplored in a speech tint the Catholic Church bad shown a lack of enthusiasm towards Herr Hitler. He complained that the Bavarian Catholic Bishops in their manifesto .were .lukewarm [regarding Nmi achievements. .He also complained of ,a Catholic dignitary’s declaration that he oouSd {not serve th 2 . Reich ’ wholeheartedly owing to the anti-Catholic measures. .
Herr Siehert added: “An end must he made to Church influence in secular affairs and in the youth movement.

“The Times’ ” Berlin correspondent states: When Luthev’.s four hundred and fiftieth anniversary was celebrated on Sunday, three thousand of the Opposition Pastors Emergency League warned their congregations of a possible conflict unless those responsible were immediately removed from ecclesiastical office, the Pastoffg declared that heathenism bad irrupted the German Church. They re-affirmed their belief ; in the entire Bible- as tho solo guide to faith. Thev appealed to thoir members to stand together,

AT ITALY’S INSTANCE

There is a persistent rumour tint tNe Disarmament Conference is adjourning in January in compliance with Italy's wish.
It is the general opinion that as the agreement on November 14 failed to .result in any understanding time must be given to break new ground.
