At Greymouth early on Saturday morning, Mr T. Gardyne of Frederick Street, heard an intruder, who escaped by a back window. Mr Gardyne then discovered that the intruder had entered through the front door, which was unlocked, and had stolen £3 frunz a pair of Itrousers, which were hanging on the rail of the bed.
A motor cycle, ridden by Mr James Bromley, collided with a pedestrian, Mr Alexander Trail, a visitor to Greymouth, aged 50 years, at the intersection of Mackay and Tainui Streets late on Sunday night. Mr Bromley was knocked off his machine but escaped wtih minor abrasions to the head. Mr Trail also received injuries, and it is thought that a small bone in his leg is fractured.

At the Magistrate’s iQourt, Grey mouth, yesterday, George Elliott, aged 42, described as a fireman of no fixed abode, was charged ’ (1) That he wag drunk m IMackay Street ; (2) 'That a e caused mischief by throwing a, number of articles in the Grey river. o,n the drunkenness charge, he wag convicted ;and fined 5 s - The Magistrate said that although there existed a doubt a 6 to who threw the things in the river, defendant was the only man thei-e, and by his action in running away it looked a,s if he had thrown them in the river. On the -first, charge of mischief defendant was -convicted and fined £1 and ordered to pay £2 5s damage, ill default 14 days.
