AMERICAN JUDGE IS APPALLED
LOS ANGELES, November 11
“The number of young people who commit serious ; crimes is appalling,” said Mr Bowron, Superior Judge, today in sentencing a pretty blonde, Burmah Adams,., nineteen years of age, to an indeterminate period up to thirty years. >r .
“To-day,” he added, “it is the exception to have before the court, a person of mature years charged with" robbery, burglary;,or motor-car theft.” ‘The Jtidge’said that the'girl had had the advantage of a good home, honest parents and a good education, yet she had been convicted of a dozen felonies, including robbery with assault. Her gangster companion had been kiledL by the; 'police when she was captured driving his.car, “I am going to pamper these young .. criminals no longer,” said, the Judge. “They must take some other punsliment than being ' sent on their way with kindly advice.”
