OVER THE GENERAL ELECTIONS
MANY STREET EIGHTS OCCUR

There have been disturbances in Spain in connection with the general elections. Bombs were exploded near the electric power station at Corrunna, and these put the city in darkness. A group of men surrounded a girl who was distributing the Right Party’s propaganda at Malaga, threatening to strip her, but shock police arrived. A number of street-fights occurred in Madrid between opposing groups. There is a strike of shop assistants at Barcelona, which lias spread, affecting 7,500. It’has been accompanied by j window smashing and shots. Many j arrests have been made, j In unfeftefeu Kberity of full democ--1 racy political parties have sprouted in i Spain like mushrooms. There are 99 ' different parties. They are being represented by 2077 candidates for 470 seats. On Sunday the general election takes place. The Socialists and the Communists are seetting the example of “bloc” | solidarity.
