SHIP ABANDONED

HEAVY GALE IN THE ATLANTIC. ANOTHER VESSEL CRIPPLED. (Per British Official Winders.) RUGBY, November 15. The British ships, Saxilby, 3630' tons, and St. Quentin, 2528 tons,, were reported to be in difficulties in a heavy gale over the Atlantic thi s morning. The Saxilby sent a wireless requesting immediate assistance, and later a message stated that the crew were trying to launch boats. In the early afternoon a brief wireless message stated the Saxilby had been abandoned. Several vessels are reported to be proceeding to the assistance of tbe crew. The Saxilby’s position is given as 500 miles west of Ireland. She carries a crew of 27. The St. Quentin is reported to have sustained damage to the steering gear 300 miles west of Valenita (Ireland). She is waiting'for the weather to 1110 - erate before repairs can be effected. The owners state that the vessel is not in' any da'hger. ’
