A,t the trial of Martin .C. Harman, Herbert’H. Poiujds, Berkley F. .C°nigrave .and, E. G. IChangeat, charged with conspiracy to • defraud in connection with the. Korean syndicate, styled the Cho-seii Corporation, Justice M ap naghten in a five-hour summing up, described as moonshine a suggestion that there Was a contract on April 13, 1931, with Japanese companies, to take seventyfive. thousand Cho-sen shares. The jury found Harman guilty on all counts; , iConigrave guilty on twenty counts of conspiracy and misapplication of funds, hut recommended leniency as he was seriously influenced by Harman. The jury found both Pounds and IChangeat not guilty. . Harman: was sentenced to eighteen months’ in the second division. Conigrave was sentenced to six months’ in the, second division. Pounds and Changeat were discharged.
