EUROPEAN COUNTRIES’ MOVE

FOR QUOTA ON ASIATIC GOODS

PARIS, November 15

Although Italy and the United Stales abstained, Britain, France, Switzerland and Germany supported the London Silk Association’s resolution at the conference of the International Silk Federation urging the Governments to impose a quota on real and artificial silk of Asiatic origin, competing with European manufacturers, based on average imports from Japan in the last three years. Delegates urged equalised conditions of production in all countries. The experts Were of opinion that such quotas would he a .severe blow to the Japanese industry.
