OBITUARY

The death took place at Westport on Tuesday at the age of 93 years, of Mr Hugh Flanhaagn. He was a native of Ireland and came to New Zealand 70 years ago and followed mining pursuits.

Sir David Murray, aged eighty-four; and Sir Mancherjee Bhownagree, aged eighty-two. CHICAGO, November 15. Mr Edward N. Hurley, the former head of the United States Shipping Board, following a brief illness. MR G. LEADLEY OF ASHBURTON. ASHBURTON, November 16. The death occurred yesterday of William Leadley, aged 78, a pioneer agriculturist. He was the first Canterbury member of the Farmers’ Union, and was the founder of the local branch, which was the first in the South Island. For fifteen years he was the Dominion vice-president, and a Dominion president. He was a former member of the County. Council, a great temperance worker, and a Methodist ]av reader for 58 years. Born in Yorkshire, .he arrived in New Zealand in 1863.
