WORST IS OVER
SLUMP IN ENGLAND
FIRMS WORKING AT CAPACITY. (United Press Association—By Electrio Telegraph—Copyright.) (Received this day at 9-30 a.m.) LONDON, November 14. The “Yorkshire Post” says that Dor. man Long and Co. are re-opening their steel mill at Micldlesborough, which has ■been closed for three years. They are also re-opening two steel furnaces, and re-employing thousands of h .nds. Orders include steel rails for Russia, and 2,800 tons of bridge work for the Dutch Government, which was formerly given to German firms.
The feeling is steadily permeating Tyneside that the \vorst of the depression has passed. There is a similar opinion at Scunthorpe, the North Lincoln iron and steel centre, where most .furnaces are working at capacity, producing amazing tonnages.
