SEEKING MARKET
FOR AUSTRALIAN PRODUCTS
EFFORTS TO DEVELOP IN U.S.A
NEW YORK, November 10.
The Australian ■ Press Association learns that active ' efforts are being made to develop in America a market for such Australian products as canned crayfish, turtle soups and extracts and turtle meat, frozen lobsters, meat, Canned rabbits, passion fruit pulp, and black current pulp. ‘ ' The last mentioned product, from Tasmania, has been manufactured'into jam by one of the leading American jam makers, and it 'has achieved* a considerable success. It is understood that the jars, however, contain no reference ,to the fruit being Australian, and an effort is 'being made to secure such recognition.
Some jam makers have issued a highly favoured report as to tne quality, flavour and attractiveness of passion fruit, objecting, however, vo the seeds, and declaring that the price of the pulp is too high. Other .comestibles, it is believed, may also find a suitable outlet in the specialty food shops featuring delicacies from abroad, which are numerous in the larger cities.
