CLERGY ATTACKED
BY HERR GOERING THE POPE IS DEEPLY SHOCKED. *• • . (United Press Association—By-Electric Telegraph—Copyright). (Received this day at 9.30 a.m.) , BERLIN, November 12. Herr Goering, in winding-up the election campaign, caused a sensation 'by attacking the Catholic clergy in the same breath as Communists. He saud: “I -shall Jet -neither the Red rats nor Black moles return.” The -Catholic party in Germany is known as “Blacks” from the black robes of the clergy. It is now stated that the Pope is deeply shocked at Herr Goering’s -reference to the Uatholio clergy as “black moles.”
Herr Goc.ring’s speech was heard o v er the air by members of th e Vatican staff, and a. protest will be made through ecclesiastical channels
