MYSTERIOUS BEAST

ALLEGED “PREHISTORIC” SIZE. REPORTS FROM SCOTLAND. LONDON, October 27. An alleged mysterious monster, ol prehistoric size and appearance, figuies largely in the newspapers, owing to reports of observers from Loch Ness, in Scotland. The first man to see the supposed monster was Mr Spicer, a London man, who was on holiday. He said that it yvaddled across the road into the lake. He was laughed at, but his story has since been supported. Scores of watchers in the past lew weeks assort that they have seen the beast swimming at ja. terrific speed. They Say it has a black back with a pronnouiiced hump, a. seven-foot neck eyes like motor-car lamps, and its total length is 30 feet. Apparently, the animal does not desire to molest anybody, but seems timid. Some consider that :t a prehistoric animal, released from subterranean caverns by blasting operations, while others say that it has strayed to the lake from the North Sea. Loeh Ness lias the sinister reputation of never giving up its dead. Its greatest depth is 754 feet. Parts have neVer been plumbed. Divers have reported gloomy caverns, that stretch to infinity, like great cathedrals. Residents desire the Scottish Fishery Board to investigate the reports. ,
