FIVE YEARS HARD
SENTENCE FOR. MANSLAUGHTER. YOUTH’S REVOLTING CRIME. (Australian Press Association). (Received this day at, 11.15 a.m.) MELBOURNE, October 31. A sentence of . five years’ -imprisonment with hard labour was imposed on Leo Starr,- for manslaughter of his aunt, Katherine Starr. Mr Justice Wasley, passing sentence, said he deliberately withheld his verdict for. a week so that he might not bo unduly influenced by the revolting circumstances of the case. A Melbourne message on August 2, stated: Leo Starr, aged • 18, a farm hand, had been arrested and charged with the murder of his aunt, aged 72 years. -Deceased liad been found with her head battered in a terrible manner.
