STRIKE EXTENDS
PROTEST BY PALESTINE ARABS TROOPS CALLED TO HELP JEWS ’(United Proes Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) JERUSALEM, October 20. The whole city is filled w'ith excited Arabs, eager to demonstrate against the migration of more Jews into Palestine.; ’The) Arabs (compelled the Jewish shops to' close in the main street and smashed one Jewish establishment. They compelled one British shop to put up its shutters. Baton charges dispersed a fresh attempt to penetrate a police cordon by rioters. Home made bombs exploded harmlessly. Stones were thrown and sticks used • compelling the British non-commissioned officers to fire a few shots. Two rioters were killed Veiled women, screaming from the housetops,;'incited the mob. Members of the Arab executive ' were arrested. Other members protested against the police firing at Jaffa and demanded the release of the leaders. It was decided to protest to the Arab. King and the League of Nations. Arab shopkeepers and motorbus owners continue to strike. The Jaffa trouble is apparently quelled. All the Arab papets life suspended ih Damascus. A flight of aeroplanes is parked at Ca ro in readiness for any emergency but thus far is not required, The police fully control the situation, Curl'ow is effective at nightfall,
