WOMAN’S ATTIRE
FASHIONS IN FANCY DRESS I LONDON, October 19. 'Woman may soon find themselves wearing fancy-dress fashions, says the Daily Mail. The thin edge of the wedge is appearing in the autumn dress shows. Designers are showing masses of expensive . fox fur twined round the I coat sleeves, serving no purpose except I sheer extravagance. says the paper;, which asks:—“What is the reason for tin’s outbreak’of foolish trimmings on evening gowns, including .exotic feathers and masses of bustle-like drapery? No woman looks her best in a frock with tall plumes springing from the shoulders like shrubs round a flower bed. “A cloak actually displayed holes cut in the shoulders to avoid crushing the masses of paradise plumes adorning the gown. This might look well in musical comedy, but it is doubtful whether any leading lady would have time to put it on. , Another threat to sanity is the tight skirt. Some mannequins were so impeded that they shuffled ■ they did not walk.”
