PROTEST AGAINST JEWS’ INFLUX : CASUALTIES DURING RIOTING. (Per. British Official Wileless.) t a > •< f RUGBY; - October • 27-- 1 - A communique issued by the High Commissioner for Palestine states v-hat the A(rab Executive committee announced its intention to hold un October 27 a political -demonstration Jaffa similar to that w-hidi was Hot allowed at Jerusalem on October 15. The High Commissioner received the president -and members of the Arab -Executive on October 25 a-nd informed them that no political procession or demonstration would be all-owed at | Jaffa, but that the members of the Executive -would be permitted to proceed to the district office and there hand their protest or manifesto to vhe District Commissioner for transmission to his Excellency. Despite the High Commissioner’s prohibition- a procession formed to-day in the neglibourhood of the Government Office at Jaffa. It began to move -and was ordered to disperse. This injunction was disobeyed and the police were assaulted. The police were compelled to make a baton charge to disperse the mob, which, however, reformed again and attacked the police. By two o’clock the rioters were dispersed and quiet was restored. One member of the police ifovce and 'three rioters were (killed, ■and seven rioters -are reported to have been killed. Two police and twenty rioters -suffered serious injuries. A large number of arrests were made. There is. complete quiet throughout Palestine with the exception of Jaffa. ARREST OF ARAB LEADERS. JERUSALEM STRIKE BEGINS. JERUSALEM, October 29. The Palestine Arabic unrest continues. It may -spread to trams-Jor-d a nia where precautionary measures are being taken by the authorities at Haifa. The police have arrested the members of the Afrab Executive at Jaffa, including a prominent lawyer. -Sullen imobs of Arabs watched the funerals yesterday of' those who were killed in the recent disturbances, bin there was no disorder. The Aiabs have begun a general strike in Jerusalem!.. A Jaffa -messages stales that, twenty of the Arabs were killed there yesterday. I; is also slated that trouble developed in several others p'rts of Palestine. A crowd demonsti a ted at the railway station at Haifa. They were trying to smash motor cars when, the p-oFce were compelled to fire, wounding several. Several police were stabbed. The British A'r Force have rushed a squadron of neropbmes from Egypt to Palestine.
