ROME, October 28. “Italy must lead the world in air on the land, and in the realm of the spirit,” declared Signor Mussolini, speaking from the balcony of the Plazzo r-Ventia, at the climax of a glittering march by sixteen thousand of Italy’s war veterans and Black Shirts in celebration of the eleventh anniversary of the Fascist March to Rome. The march inaugurated the “Im -perial way” which Signor Mussolini reconstructed through the historic city of Caesar’s, on which the Roman soldiers marched two thousand years ago. As the Fascist eagles and other emblems dipped under the ancient Arch of Constantine, which has newly been revealed by excavations, the cheering thousands regarded the spectators as the revival of the ancient triumphant match of the Roman Legions, which impression was heighten by the presence -of the King, taking the salute for the first time in the Anniversary celebrations. The whole of Italy was on holiday, j bands playing in the squares, and j bonfires blazing on the peaks of the Alps and Appennines throughout the night. A huge public works programme, which involves forty millions sterling, was inaugurated among the daj s celebration. Signor Mussolini, in bis message to the people on the eleventh anniversary of his march to Rome at the head of the Fastcisti, on Saturday, challenges democracy and the party government method. He said the old -doctrines are capitulating, everywhere. , The Italian papers print maps showing that Fascism has crossed the frontiers of Italy. Germany and Austria are coloured grey, and a grey arrow also points questioningly towards Britain. A TRIPLE ANNIVERSARY. LONDON, October 28. Europe is' now celebrating three important anniversaries, namely, those of the Fascist State of Italy, the Renuhlic of Turkey and the Independence of Czecho-S!ovalda. President Mnzaryk onesided at the commemoration of ' Czecho-Slovalda’s fifteenth Independence Day.
