BAG SNATCHED

AN IMPUDENT THEFT AUCKLAND, October MWith extraordinary effrontery ( a ma n snatched a woman’s handbag in Manukau Road, Epsom, and eluded pursuit. The woman alighted from an out-ward-bound tramcar at the Epsom Avenue stop and crossed to the opposite footpath. The spot is brilKantly lighted and there were several people about, as two tramcars were passing the stopping place, yet just as she reached the footpath, a man seized her handbag and dashed across the road. A witness of the incident followed him immediately, but the th':ef had gained a start, and was not overtaken. The bag contained a £5 note and other money.
