Reichstag on February 27, near the Communist Party rooms,, and they met Torgler and van der Lubbo together. Herr Sachs, cross-examining, showed Karawahne as being repeatedly self J contradictory. He remembered many more details than in- his initial examination. . Karawahne was perturbed when Torgler asked whether he i had lead an attack on the Communist j headquarters in Hanover, and had J supplied amti-Commun':st material to 1 the newspapers after he joined the Nazis. The President continually interrupted to shield Karawahne, who evaded examination, and finally took refuge in a refusal to answer, even when the president admitted a question. Diinitroff asked Karawahne many questions which the president disallowed. ' • :
