HIGHER SALARIES
FOR FEDERAL MINISTERS, (Australian Press. Association). (Received this day at 9 a.m.) CANBERRA, October 24. According to the count of heads by the party "whips, it is considered unlikely the'Senate will block the Members’ salary increase.. A telegram from the Taxpayers’ Association of New South AY ales to the President of the Senate protesting against the increase, urges the Senate to reject it. STORM OF INDIGNATION. (Aeceived this day at 10 a.m.) SYDNEY, October 24. A storm of indignation was aroused by a section of the members of the House of Representatives in increasing their salaries, and on every hand it is suggested that the action should oe revoked. or the Senate should decline t-o pass the measure. It is iearned at Canberra that, if the Senate yields to public opinion and rejects the proposal, tho Ministry wi.l withdraw it.
