LLOYD’S MEDAL
GALLANTRY IN STORM AT SEA (Per British Official Wit eless.) RUGBY, Octoher 20. Lloyd’s Elver medal for meritorious services, which is awarded to those who “by extraordinary exertion, contribute to the preservation of vessels and cargoes from perils of all kinds,” has been presented to Captain D. L. C. Evans for liis handling of the Holt liner “Phem'ius” during a hurricane in November.
The Phemius encountered the hurricane with a wind of 200 miles an hour when between Cuba and Colon, and was greatly damaged by wind and seas. For days the captain and crew worked with tlie utmost gallantry in ten-ille conditions, finally being towed into Kingston.
