PIGEON FLYING

SUPREME CLUB MEETING. At the annual meeting of the Supreme Flying Club, it was decided to draw up the old birds’ races ,to held by the senior members of the club for the forthcoming season. The first of the events will be flown to-morrow from Springfield, a distance cf 65 miles airline. A good entry was received by the secretary and some fine birds were hampered this morning. 1 keen even result is expected, and given a clear morning the birds should cross the Alps in record time.

The succeeding races will be. held from: Christchurch, Ashburton, Tomuka, Timaru, Ovmaru, Palmerston, Dunedin, Kaitangata and the old bird championship will be held from the Bluff, 300 miles distant, The junior members of the Club have decided to hold their first race from Ross next Sunday. Judging by the in« forest displayed by the young fanciers, their races are expected to be very keen.
