OBITUARY

The death occurred .at Westport, on Tuesday, of Mr John Bruery, aged 75 years, who had . resided for many years in the Buffer district. •He is survived by his ■ widow, two daughters, and one son.

The death lias occurred at his residence, Black’s.) Point of Mr Jack White, from miners’ phthisis, aged 52 .years. A native of Bendigo (Australia) he resided at Reefton for over 20 years, and worked in .various quartz mines in the district. He is ,survi\ed by his wife and three children.

The death occurred at Westport, of 'Mrs Martha Maria Elradley, aged 82 years. She was a- native of Wales, and, with her husband, arrived in New Zealand on .the maiden voyage of the ship Dunedin, in June, 1874. 9‘nce 1885. Mr and Mrs Bradley resided in Westport. Deceased is survived by her husband and eight, children.

AUCKLAND, October 17.

The death occurred at -Surfdale oil Sunday of Oolotiel G. C. B. Wolfe, New Zealand Military Forces, formerly officer cbrriiiilandfcg, the. Auckland Military UiStr'idt. tdloliel.. Wolfe,.who was 09 year s of .age, began his military career as an officer-in .the. (Royal Marine Light Infantry. He came to New Zealand more than 30 years ago with the rank of captain, having 'been- lent for duty with the Defence Forces.

Colonel Wolfe was. for some time in command of the Nelson district, and was transferred to Auckland several years before the inauguration of the Territorial Force in 1912. 111-health compelled him to -resign ibelore the outbreak of the Great War, and he lived in retirement near Auckland, latterly .at Surfdde, until his death. Ho is survived by Mr s .Wolfe, and two daughters. Deceased will be remembered by old m|ambers of the volunteers as being in charge of this district for some years. ■ ‘ - -
