SHIPPING
PROPOSED RESTRICTIONS. United Press Association—By Electne Telegraph—Copyright.) (Received this day at 10.50 a.m.) CANBERRA, October 19. It. is believed that negotiations between the Commonwealth Government and the New Zealand Government have led to a point from . which dfeskwo action can be taken to protect Australian and New Zealand shipping in the ’Pacific from unfair competition, by the United States owned vessels. The Federal Ministry desired all restrictions to he abolished. It is believed that the United States Government is unlikely to co-operate, in this courseand it is therefore probable, that the impending adjustment of the situation will take the form of a provision by the Governments of Australia and New Zealand of restrictions on United Stai> e,s shipping similar to those imposed by tile United States authorities on Australian and New Zealand ships.
