’' Under influence of the disturbing news abroad and the higher quotations of the dollar in terms of foreign currencies, heavy selling of stocks today, resulted in losses of nine to eight points on the Stock Exchange, whereas at Chicago, they dropped to the limit permitted in a single day’s trading. Other commodities followed a similar trend, many breaking new low levels. The gold value of the dollar •opened at 71.40 following the high level ■of 73.55 in Paris, but closed at 69.94, which is .25 over Saturday’s close.
