MONTHLY EXECUTIVE MEETING BUSINESS LAST EVENING 'J'lie monthly meeting cf tbe executive of the Hokitika branch of the Returned Soldiers’ AssoC. at ion was heid last evening, when there were present:—The president (Air AV. E. Brown) and Alpssrs R. Paterson, G. A. King, C. Hart, R. A. Appleton, T. Lynch T. Stuart, T. Cooper, J. L. Alenzies, A. E. Armstrong and G. Gilchrist.
An apology was received from the Rev. 1-3. J. W. Knights. Inward correspondence was dealt with as follows: The AVaimate branch advised that their financial membership at the end of September was 118.—(Hokitika also 118). —Received. The local agent of the Northern Insurance Coy., forwarding a refund in reduction of 'insurance on the hall.— Received.
A resident of Ross wrote inquiring for particulars of admission to the Flock House for his boy.—lt was decided the particulars be supplied. The Invercargill branch wrote advising particulars of an ex-serviceman at present in the Mental Hospital.
The secretaries of the Ross and Kumara sub-branches forwarded capitation for members. —Received. The Nelson, Alarlboro'ugh and AVest Coast Regiment 'wrote thanking tho branch for the donation, and assistance given to the volunteer movement.—Received. ■ The Christchurch branch wrote regarding the tobacco issue of a mental patient. J The P, AV, Department advised that the payment of compensat on to one of the branch’s members would be paid immediately, The AVestland Patriotic Association advised that a grant of £-1 had been received from the War Funds Council, and asking particulars of tbe number of unemployed ex-servicemen in the district.—Received.
It was reported that the allocation from the Canteen Funds for July, August and September amounted to £2B.
Headquarters advised receipt of order for 1250 poppies for next Poppy Day, arid enclosing a rebate on poppy sales for 1933 sales.
Headquarters further advised that a member of the Mercantile. Marine was not entitled' lie the issue of a membership badge, but may become an hon. member of the Association, although not eligible. for full membership.
Headquarters . wrote regarding t-lie circulation of branches for donations to the AValton-on-Thames . memorial tablet. It was decided to reply that this branch had already contributed to this fund.
Headquarters forwarded a copy of a uniform order of service in connection with the burial of ex-servicemen. It was decided to get several copies typed,, and give effect to the suggestions contained. It was decided to aoprcach the secretary of the Hospital Board, regarding particulars of a, medical association in connection with the membership of this branch.
The secretary reported on his action in endeavouring to arrange for a search party to look for H. H. M. Cox, and it was .decided to send a letter of thanks to Messrs B. Cropp, A. Curtayne, T. Ecclesfield and P. Diedricks and D. He'nz for their action in making an effort under very trying conditions to find the missing man It was left in the hands of the president and secretary to meet any out-of-pocket expenses incurred by the party. ,
It was decided to make a grant to cover the subsidised labour, so that all unemployed ex-servicemen may be given two days’ employment.
