MATAKI RETURN The dredgemaster reports a return of 31 ounces for the week ending October 7. The east side is still( shallow, carrying a little gold; on the.’ west side a deep gutter in now cut out and the ground has become moreshallow. The best wash now appears to be in the centre of the face. The dredge is still opening out on the western boundary, where there is a face five feet above the water. The flat towards the dredge has been cleared of scrub for yards, and during the next' fortnight-it will bo necessary to construct a road over the tailings for coaling purposes.
